Sailing Checklist
Let me just point out this is a sailing list I use for colder months. This one was used for a sailing trip in southern Adriatic (Croatia) which took place at the end of March. You should probably have that in mind when adjusting it for summer sailing trips.

I've always wanted to take a sailing holiday...
This might seem like some kind of a posh extravaganza, but it actually isn't. I think you could easily afford it. :)
For renting a nice 45,5 foot sailing boat in Rogoznica (Croatia) for a week we payed around over 850 EUR in off-season. If you get together a crew of 8 enthusiasts this is just a bit over 100 EUR per person.
In addition to that you are also charged tourist taxes (4 EUR per person per day), moorings you use in ports and the diesel you burn on the way.
You also provide food and drinks for yourself, but since you can cook for yourself this expense should be similar if you stay at home.
It helps if one of those 8 crew members is a skipper with all necessary licenses. Otherwise you have to pay for one.
In peak season boat rental prices can triple!
